Zr (Zirconium) is the type of abrasive grain suitable for coarse to medium particle size applications on metal, making it an excellent choice for demanding applications, for example on stainless steel. It works best under high pressure, which is necessary for the grain to break, exposing new sharp edges. It is a type of abrasive that has large fracture planes and self-sharpens during the cut.
E or F papers are the most resistant and least flexible standard paper supports used on the market. They are used in belts, discs and rolls that require high resistance, for example in large belts where high breaking strength is required.
The indicated grits are the most common for the operations in question, but they do not exhaust all available alternatives. We will be happy to help you find the best solution for your case.
The indicated diameters are the most common in the industry. OTA has many more dimensions available, as it produces formats tailored to the needs of its customers.
Disc holes is an important and often neglected topic. The best solution depends on several factors, namely: the disc diameter, the suction system and the holes in the disc pad. Therefore, there is a huge variety of standard solutions.
The backing of the abrasive in fabric (Vel) is the most common application in Europe and is designed to allow the use of discs or sheets on equipment or plates with a Velcro® type system to allow easy, quick and reusable fastening. The type of fabric is always adjusted to the abrasive in question and comes in a wide range of weights and strengths.
It also exists an Ad (self-adhesive) fixing.
